stitchalong set up

how ’bout a stitchalong?

I’m setting up a little stitchalong. It’ll be a grid-style sampler but this time we’ll learn a new stitch for every square. This will be great for a first-time embroiderer, as well as anyone who wants to brush-up on their embroidery and learn new stitches.

Does that sound like your kind of fun?

There’s no cost to stitchalong. Having a blog isn’t required but if you do have a blog, you can show your progress on your blog.

Meet me here on Monday and I’ll show you how to set it up. Tuesday, we start stitching!

If you want to be one step ahead, you can gather your materials.

You’ll need:

  • Fabric (about 12 to 18″ square) (Osnaburg, an unbleached utility fabric, is my choice)
  • Ruler (the width of the ruler will determine the size of your squares)
  • Frixion Pen by Pilot (available at Target, Walmart, Staples…in the office supply section)
  • Embroidery hoop
  • Needles
  • Assortment of embroidery floss
  • Small embroidery scissors

Good News! The home sampler design shown here will be sold at Hobby Lobby stores!

That’s the only major brick & mortar store so far that will offer any of the samplers. They will also be available through Dimensions website and Amazon. They are due to be released later this Spring. Oh happy day!

baby sampler peek

I’m so excited about the grid samplers I designed for Dimensions! They were presented at CHA last month and created a little buzz. We’ll find out soon where you can find these in the market. Here is the adorable baby sampler. My favorite part? The fluffy yellow duck pull toy stitched with yarn with button wheels…

Stay tuned to find out more where you can find these samplers. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they’ll be in lots of places, big and small. We’ll see…

Here’s a snapshot Leslie Blatt over at Dimensions shot of the Dimensions booth at CHA and of my samplers on display! Yay!
